OCD
Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) – Gradually face feared situations while resisting compulsive behaviors to reduce anxiety and break the OCD cycle.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – Develop psychological flexibility by learning to accept intrusive thoughts without responding to them.
Mindfulness – Increase awareness of intrusive thoughts without judgment, reducing the urge to engage in compulsions.
Somatic Therapies – Support nervous system regulation to reduce the physical effects of anxiety and improve emotional resilience.
Uncertainty Tolerance Training – Build confidence in living with uncertainty and decrease the need for reassurance, checking, and other compulsive behaviors.
We provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can openly discuss intrusive thoughts and compulsive behaviors without fear of shame or judgment. Together, we’ll work to understand how OCD affects your daily life while helping you build confidence in responding to uncertainty rather than fear.
Our goal is to help you spend less time controlled by OCD and more time living a life guided by your values instead of anxiety.
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is more than being organized or liking things a certain way. OCD involves unwanted, intrusive thoughts, images, or urges (obsessions) that create significant anxiety, often leading to repetitive behaviors or mental rituals (compulsions) performed to reduce distress. While these behaviors may provide temporary relief, they often reinforce the cycle of OCD over time.
Common symptoms may include excessive checking, contamination fears, intrusive thoughts about harm, a need for symmetry or certainty, repetitive reassurance seeking, or mental rituals such as counting or reviewing events. OCD can interfere with work, school, relationships, and daily life, leaving individuals feeling trapped in an exhausting cycle of fear and doubt.
At Avision Therapy, we provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental environment where you can better understand your OCD and begin breaking free from its cycle. We use evidence-based treatments including Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and somatic approaches to help reduce anxiety, increase psychological flexibility, and support nervous system regulation. Treatment is collaborative, gradual, and tailored to your comfort level while building confidence in facing uncertainty.
Our goal is to help you spend less time controlled by OCD and more time focused on the life you want to live. Together, we’ll help you respond differently to intrusive thoughts, reduce compulsive behaviors, and regain a greater sense of freedom, confidence, and peace.
You deserve to feel confident, connected, and emotionally well.
