EATING DISORDERS

How we can help
Eating Disorders are complex conditions that involve much more than food or body image. They often develop as a way to cope with overwhelming emotions, stress, perfectionism, trauma, or a need for control. Over time, these patterns can affect physical health, emotional well-being, relationships, work, and daily functioning.
Symptoms may include restrictive eating, binge eating, purging behaviors, excessive exercise, intense fear of weight gain, preoccupation with food or body image, or feelings of guilt and shame related to eating. Eating disorders can affect people of all ages, genders, body sizes, and backgrounds, and seeking help is a courageous first step toward recovery.
At Avision Therapy, we provide a compassionate, nonjudgmental space where healing begins with understanding—not judgment. We work collaboratively to explore the emotional, cognitive, and behavioral patterns that contribute to disordered eating while helping you develop a healthier relationship with food, your body, and yourself. Treatment is personalized to your unique experiences and recovery goals.
We integrate evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and somatic therapies to support emotional healing and nervous system regulation. Together, we’ll help you process underlying emotions, strengthen emotion regulation skills, develop self-compassion, and build sustainable coping strategies that support long-term recovery and a more balanced relationship with food and yourself.
